As an established lodge in the Hluhluwe area, we’re perfectly placed to help you book a range of unforgettable experiences. From close-up encounters with elephants and rescued wild cats, to private guided tours through some of the region’s most iconic reserves — there’s something to do for every kind of traveller.
When making your booking with us, please enquire about your preferred activity so that we can make the relevant arrangements. All activities are subject to availability; all costs are subject to change. Guests need to arrange their own transport to and from activities. Duiker Game Lodge does not do transfers.

Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park
(25km from Duiker Game Lodge)
Just a short drive from the lodge, Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park is the oldest proclaimed game reserve in Africa. This iconic park is home to the Big 5 and holds a rich history — from once being King Shaka’s private hunting grounds to playing a vital role in saving the Southern White Rhino from extinction.
Guests can choose between two ways to experience the park:
OPTION 1 - Self-drive
- Explore the park at your own pace in your own vehicle
- Pay your entrance fee at Memorial Gate
- Several picnic sites with ablutions and braai (BBQ) facilities are available
OPTION 2 - Guided Tour
- Book a guided safari in an open vehicle through Duiker Game Lodge
- Meet your knowledgable guide at Memorial Gate and pay your park entrance fee there
- Choose between a 3-hour, 6-hour, or full-day (8-hour) drive
- Drinks and snacks are not included but can be arranged on request
Manyoni Private Game Reserve

Book a guided tour through Manyoni Private Game Reserve, which is home to the Big 5, cheetah, hyena, wild dog, and more than 400 different bird species.
The majestic Ubombo Mountains form a breath-taking backdrop, coupled with the stunning Msunduzi River, make this reserve one of the most picturesque in the area.
Choose between a 3 or 6 hour morning or afternoon drive. Snacks are included and drinks can be arranged on request
Mkuze Game Reserve
(40km from Duiker Game Lodge)
Spend the day in Mkhuze Game Reserve, a Big 5 park which is part of the iSimangaliso World Heritage Site. The extensive wetlands host a large number of hippos and crocodiles, and is world renowned for its incredible variety of birds, boasting over 420 species.
One can self-drive through the reserve or book a guided tour. There is a picnic site with ablutions and braai (BBQ) facilities at Nsumo Pan.
Elephant Interaction

Get up close with two habituated elephants, Rambo and Rachel — who were rescued after their herd was culled. This unforgettable experience offers the rare chance to interact with these gentle giants and learn more about the challenges facing African elephants today.
Zululand Cat Conservation Project

Take a guided tour and learn about some of South Africa’s incredible wild cats, including cheetah, caracal, and serval. You'll have the chance to view and photograph these animals during feeding time, while an experienced guide shares fascinating insights about each species.

False Bay Boat Safari

Escape the crowds and step into the stillness of northern Lake St Lucia, a sanctuary of pelicans, flamingos, hippos, crocodiles and untouched shoreline beauty.
A two hour guided cruise revealing Lake St Lucias water landscapes with a maximum of 10 guests per departure, each cruise promises personal guiding, photographic moments and rare access to the quietest corner of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

Discover and observe Hippos, Nile Crocodiles, and hundreds of bird species on the Hippo & Croc Boat Cruise in St Lucia. This 2-hour cruise gets you close up to the residents of the estuary.

Explore Our Reserve
We offer private game drives on the reserve allowing guests a chance to witness Africa’s iconic wildlife, without the crowds. Each drive includes either a coffee stop in the morning or sun-downers in the evening.
We have a large variety of plains species on our property including Giraffes, Sables, Kudus, Zebras, Nyalas, Wildebeest, Impalas and Reedbucks. As well as Warthogs, Ostrich, Jackals, Mongoose, Porcupines, and Genets for more interesting viewing. Guests with a keen eye may even spot the elusive Leopard, Aardvark and Hyena.
Guided bush walks can also be arranged in advance, subject to availability.
Lake Jozini Tiger Fishing
(60km from Duiker Game Lodge)
Day trips to Jozini Lake for “catch and release” Tiger Fishing and game viewing. Lake Jozini hosts an incredible population of Tiger Fish which are a hard-striking game fish that put up a good fight, perfect for adrenaline junkies! One can also view game from the boat, an exciting waters’ edge perspective, great for bird watching and sightings of crocodile, hippo, elephants and other general game.
Beach & Bush Horse Safaris - St Lucia

- Bush Rides 1 hour or 2 hours: Our bush rides take us into the Southern end of the Eastern Shores section of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. We ride alongside Zebra, Wildebeest, Warthog, Impala and other plains game. With the occasional sightings of the elusive Leopard, and possibly seeing Buffalo & Elephant in the distance.
- Beach and Bush Combo Rides 2.5 hours: We take the horses down to the ocean and head either North towards First Rocks or South towards Lake St Lucia. During the whale season (June to Nov) we sometimes see Humpback Whales breaching out in the deeper water. The other half of the ride we take you over the savanna where you can ride between various animals such as Zebra, Wildebeest, warthogs etc.

Whale Watching

Embark on a truly magical experience with Whale Watching St Lucia, a captivating 2-hour tour that brings you within 50 meters of the majestic giants of the deep. While Humpback whales steal the spotlight, sightings of Minky’s, Right, and Sperm whales are equally awe-inspiring.
Our adventure begins with a thrilling surf launch, setting the tone for an unforgettable journey. Please note, due to the high-energy nature of the launch, we recommend a decent “holding on strength,” and thus, we only accept children aged 12 years and older.
As these gentle giants migrate past St Lucia each year, they become the focal point of our tour. However, keep your eyes peeled for other remarkable oceanic species that grace our waters. From Bryde’s whales to southern right whales, dolphins (both common and bottlenose), flying fish, leatherback and loggerhead turtles, sharks, whale sharks, and beyond, every moment promises a new and exhilarating encounter.
